Graduate School Letters

It's finally that time of year! No, it's not graduation yet, or even summer, but it is the season for graduate school decision letters! I have painfully (and patiently) waited for mid-March to come around since my graduate school decision letters have started trickling in through snail-mail. All of my graduate school applications were due between December 1 and the end of January; as you can imagine waiting 3-4 months is a long time to find out if one is accepted into a particular school! For me, I openly admit that I have A.D.D since I need to know my plans months in advance, especially for something that is so life-altering.

Just as a recap, I applied to the following schools:
  • University of Baltimore - Interactive Design and Information Architecture
  • Johns Hopkins University - Communications with a Digital Communications concentration
  • MIT - Media Lab
  • NYU - Tisch School of the Arts, Interactive Telecommunications
The first decision letter I received was from UB - I got accepted!!

Stay tuned in for future updates! Wish me luck!

Gearing Up For Graduation!

I know I have stated this many times in my previous blog posts, but I need to say it again - TIME IS FLYING BY! Not only are there only 6 school days until spring break, but seniors, such as myself, only have 38 days until we conclude our final spring semester classes and graduation occurs on Saturday, May 21!

This semester has been really fun thus far, but it proves to be a lot of work when one is gearing up for graduation and is finalizing graduate school plans. Actually, I ended up applying to 4 graduate schools and have only heard from University of Baltimore at this point. This waiting game is beginning to be a pain in the arse!

So, what activities do I have planned for the rest of the semester? A whole bunch of things! Here's a quick list to get an idea.
  • Columns newspaper distribution for April and May. The March issue will be out tomorrow!
  • Movie night this Friday evening at 9 p.m - The Blind Side with Sandra Bullock
  • Senior Seminar final project
  • Student Research Day on Friday, April 23
  • Morrissy Honors White Wine Tasting
  • Morrissy Honors Chocolate Tasting
The seniors are definitely busy girls; I am trying to fit as many activities in this semester before I graduate and continue onto graduate school.

More posts to come!

What a week!

This really has been a crazy week. I don't know how many of you went to Winterfest this year, but I thought it was even more fun than last year. There were a lot of cool events that were happening this week, too. Between the auditions for the student plays, the Take Back the Night program on Wednesday, the LAF Safe Space, the B'ahai discussion and the two discussions the school was holding, it was hard to decide which one to pick from!

Even the food has been different lately. Is it just me, or has SAGE been spoiling us lately? On Monday we got all those amazing sweets for breakfast and dinner, the ice cream flavors have been really good this week and so have the desserts and we've even been getting vegan options lately. I'm not even vegetarian, but between the vegan patties and the soy nuggets, it's nice to know there are tasty options for vegetarians, vegans, people with allergies, health problems or who just don't like chicken. Even the Calzones tonight in Gator were extremely good. Students vs. Cafeteria food is an age-old argument, but it's always nice to see things get mixed up, especially when it falls in favor of things being kosher, halal, vegetarian, vegan or just plain healthy. My mouth is still watering from the free-form lollipops and the chocolate croissants.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Because apparently it's the 14th. I can't believe it's already Valentine's Day-The Snowpocalyse really had us trapped for awhile if it's already Valentine's Day. I still remember planning to spend this weekend seeing "My Name Is Khan" and posting about it. I'm really glad it's over, even if it was definitely something to go through together. For those of you who aren't completely sick of anything related to the word snowpocalyse, here's something funny related to it:

For all of the singles out there, I saw this on Twitter and thought I'd share:

Is it just me or is this really, really sexist? Men get drunk just as much on Valentine's Day, women eat and play video games just as much and the rest is just stereotypes, not to mention insulting to gay people. The woman who wrote it claimed she was just joking and being sarcastic, but even if she's joking, she could have stood to make it more balanced and not make her own gender look so stupid.
