The highlight of this past week for me was my visit to Sisters Academy, where I will be volunteering with several other NDM students. Sisters Academy is a school for girls in grades 5-8 from low-income families. Two eighth-graders gave three other students and me a tour of the school. It's really nice. Their work is displayed throughout the school and they are really proud of their accomplishments. After the tour, we each went to one of the clubs that the girls have on Fridays. I don't know when we'll be going back, but we are planning to go two or three days a week. I'm really excited even though I'm a little nervous. I'm hoping to tutor French and help with the drama club, but I'm not sure exactly how I'll be helping yet. There are a lot of great opportunities to get involved in service at Notre Dame from being a tutor/mentor at Sisters Academy to serving food at a homeless shelter to participating in a walk-athon or blood drive to alternative spring break and service abroad. Have you participated in a cool service experience recently? Tell us about it.
