Festival of Trees

I have been so busy with school lately, but I managed to take a break from the massive amounts of papers and studying to take my son to the Festival of Trees at the MD state fairgrounds. He had so much fun there. There were a ton of stands selling hand crafted jewelry (my favorite), other crafts, and other objects like purses. They also had a Gingerbread Garden that consisted of over 20 gingerbread houses that were submitted for a competition. Some of them were really cool. It is amazing how creative some people are! Our last stop in the main room was the train garden. Lately my son has become obsessed with trains. There were only like 3 trains in the garden, but we sat there and watched it for about 15 minutes. At that point, it was about an hour away from closing time, and I still wanted to take him into the kids area. Landon, however, refused to leave. After about 5 more minutes, I got him to leave under the notion that we were going to go do crafts. We walked over to the kids area, and the first thing we did was paint a ceramic car, which I thought was going to result in a huge mess but it didn't. Then Landon had to get on the train. He is very shy, and they filled each seat up on the train so he had to sit next to a little boy he didn't know. It was hysterical. He was literally leaning out his window because he didn't want to be near the kid next to him! Then we played games to win tickets for a prize. The teenage girls running one stand fell in love with Landon and gave him handfuls of tickets so he could get any prize that he wanted. He chose a Santa hat and some books. On our way out, we stopped at the little petting zoo that they had, and Landon got to touch a hedgehog, turtle, and a snake. I was surprised that he wanted to touch all of those animals. So, overall, we had a lot of fun when we went to the Festival of Trees, and Landon wants to wear his Santa hat everywhere we go!
